Corrie and Emmerdale pulled from TV for the second time running as fans lash out (2024)

We bring you bad news if you’re a Coronation Street or Emmerdale fan, as both ITV soaps will not be airing this evening (Monday, June 17).

When it comes to changes to the soap schedules, Metro.co.uk always brings you everything you need to know, so let’s get to it!

To save you tuning into ITV this evening and expecting a trip to Weatherfield or the Dales, take a seat and have a read of all the important information regarding what’s on tonight:

Why won’t Coronation Street and Emmerdale air tonight?

Up Next

The schedule for ITV has changed this evening because of – you guessed it – the football.

As Euro 2024 continues, the match airing tonight will be Austria vs France.

Because the coverage begins at 7:15pm and ends at around 10:30pm, there won’t be time for Coronation Street or Emmerdale to air as well.

The topic of soaps being moved for sports is always something that gets fans talking.

Many audience members from Corrie and Emmerdale are often seen taking to social media to express their frustration on the alterations, with plenty arguing either the soaps or sports could air on another ITV channel, to make room for the other.

‘Great no corrie thank to bloody football ⚽’, one X user wrote online while another said: ‘These others’ ITV channel have mainly repeats on them, makes sense to put the regular programs on, while the footballs on. Not everyone is a fan of football. The BBC has moved their programs to BBC 2, So why can’t ITV do it’.

@ITV Why can’t @ITV do what BBC have done. Football on BBC1 other popular programs ie Casualty they have put on BBC2 So those of us that hate football can watch our usual programs. You could do this with Emmerdale and Coronation Street
